Interview with Dr. Ellen

Hi I'm Dr. Ellen Albertson, aka The Midlife Whisperer™. I where a lot of hats: I'm a psychologist, astrologer, registered dietitian, wellbeing coach, Tarot reader, Reiki master, and self-compassion teacher. I combine all my skills to help midlife women have the energy, confidence, and clarity to make their next chapter their best chapter by finding Quantum Joy Alignment®.

A bestselling, award winning author and inspirational speaker, I have written for SELF, Better Homes & Gardens and Good Housekeeping. My latest book is Rock Your Midlife: 7 Steps to Transform Yourself and Make Your Next Chapter Your Best Chapter!

I bring over 30 years of counseling, coaching, and healing experience to my holistic practice and transformational work. I live in Costa Rica and on the Champlain Islands of Vermont with my high-tech, raw-food loving partner, Ken and tree-climbing Border Collie, Rosie.

What’s something you’ve been pretty consistent at doing that has led to a favorable outcome for you?

Making Self-compassion my superpower. Practicing self-compassion has transformed my life and the lives of my clients and followers. It enables you to love, trust, and empower yourself so that you STOP doing things that insult your soul and START attracting what is truly in your highest good.

The cool thing about self-compassion is that it's a skill that anyone can learn. Research shows that it reduces stress, anxiety, and depression AND improves wellbeing and optimism. My research showed that practicing self-compassion can also help heal body shame and reverse negative body image.

Which habits or goals are you currently working to make progress on daily?

Right now my goal is to anchor the joy and magic of 5D by using the Quantum Joy Alignment Method®. I'm doing this by making a daily habit of managing my energy via self-care practices, emotional regulation, and mindset shifts. The goal is to consistently vibrate with high energy states like love, joy, peace and gratitude so I can attract and manifest what is truly for the highest good of myself and the world.

Of course, this also leads to being happier and healthier which is vital to me as I just finished treatment for breast cancer. Maintaining the highest level of wellbeing possible is the best way to stay in remission and be healthy at 100.

The goal of remaining high vibe is something that I have struggled to maintain consistently primarily because old thought patterns, beliefs, actions, and emotions don't simply fade away or disappear. You have to do the work of healing yourself and be intentional about showing up in a high-vibe place. This also entails being aware when you fall into old patterns, and practicing self-compassion by forgiving, accepting, and loving yourself exactly as you are.

How do you deal with times when you struggle or get stuck?

I practice self-compassion by noticing when I'm struggling, pausing, and asking: What do I need? Then I give myself what I need.

Recently, I was feeling frustrated and angry because my business wasn't going exactly as I wanted it to. Rather than forcing things to happen, I asked: What do I need? The answer wasn't work harder. The answer was get out of the office and take a 20 mile bike ride to visit a good friend. During the ride I sunk into mindfulness (It was gorgeous New England Fall Day) and gratitude. My energy totally shifted. Not only did I feel better, I was able to access my intuition to get clarity on how to move forward with ease and joy.

Any methods, tools or tips you recommend for your habits, goals or productivity?

Self-compassion and the Quantum Joy Alignment Method® (QJA). I have seen incredible quantum leaps in myself and my clients using these tools. The QJA  Method uses a technique called Destination Vibration which enables you to see and sense that your dream life is happening now. The method also helps you remove the blocks that  are keeping you stuck and out of alignment with what you want to manifest. The end result is that you start to feel joyful, energized, and confident 24/7 and when you notice that your vibe is low you can pull your shift together ( :

I'm also a big fan of eating a whole foods plant based diet, staying hydrated, moving daily, sleeping 7-8 hours a night, and managing stress.

A favorite quote?

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”― Marianne Williamson

It's may favorite because it's so truthful and motivational. Williamson is spot on that everyone is talented and fabulous and that we are all meant to shine. The work is to love yourself and shine. That's something each of us can do. If everyone did that the world would be a very different place.
